BIRTH ESSENTIALS __________________
A doula provides emotional and physical caring support before, during, and after the birth of your baby.

What are the benefits of having a doula?
A doula helps provide mental and emotional preparedness for labor and delivery. When emotions are high, and pain is increased, a doula helps give confidence and encouragement to keep you on track. When your body is tense, a doula helps bring an atmosphere of relaxation, breathing, and support to you and your family.
How do you develop a birth plan?
A birth plan is dreaming about what you might like your labor and birth process to look like. This is a time to reflect on things you do and do not want during the birth of your baby. Who do you want in the room? What medication are you comfortable taking? Do you want music playing? What might be soothing to you as you welcome your baby into the world?
How do I decide pain management?
Pain management is decided by the mother, depending on pain tolerance and circumstances surrounding the birth. The lowest risk in most cases is non-medicated labor and birth. However, when medical intervention is necessary the priority is always the safety of the baby and mother.
